Ice Report for 12/22/19

A half-dozen anglers on the Retreat Pond in Brattleboro Sunday afternoon reported 5-7 inches of good solid ice. A few more inches of dry, powdery snow on top of that provided good traction, as well. One of the fishermen caught a 40-inch-long Northern pike at the pond’s eastern edge.Jim Bazanson of Vernon, VT. shows a 5-inch golden shiner he caught through the ice and was then using for Northern pike bait.A lone angler remains on the ice on at dusk.
